Wai Wai Noodles

Growing up in Nepal, every child remembers munching on a bowl of Wai Wai instant noodles. From quick snacks after school to comforting wai wai soup on rainy days, Wai Wai has been a staple in Nepalese hearts for as long as anyone can remember.

This was one of my favorite instant noodles while growing up and is still one of my favorites today! This noodle tastes delicious, either raw or cooked.

So, the next time you crave a comforting and tasty snack, try our wai wai noodles fry recipe. Here is a quick and easy wai wai recipe.

Ingredients

Ingredients for wai wai noodles recipe

Wai wai noodles: Vegetarian (Green packet) or chicken flavor (Red packet). You can use either, but I am using vegetarian for this recipe.

Onion: Red or white onion.

Vegetables: Peas or carrots or pepper. Feel free to substitute with your favorite vegetables.

Sauce: Tomato sauce, spicy siracha sauce, or you can replace it with green chili.

Seasoning: Black pepper and salt.

Egg (optional)

Oil: Olive oil or any vegetable oil.

Spice: Red chili kashmiri powder.

Note: Wai wai comes with its own masala powder that contains salt, and wai wai itself is salty, so please be cautious when adding salt.

Instructions

Step 1: Remove the noodles from the packet. Add two cups of warm water to a bowl to soften them.

STRAIN NOODLES

Step 2: Let the noodles soak for 10 minutes until soft. Using a strainer, strain the noodles once they are soft.

ADD ONION. (1)

Step 3: Pour oil into the pan. Once the oil is hot, add the onion. Stir fry it for 2-3 minutes on medium-high heat until the onion softens and turns light brown.

ADD EGG.

Step 4: Then add the egg and cook it for two to three minutes.

ADD PEAS.

Step 5: Next, add peas after that. Mix everything together and fry for a few minutes.

ADD SOAKED NOODLES

Step 6: Add soaked noodles and stir-fry them for a few minutes.

ADD Sauce.

Step 7: Finally, add all seasonings (black pepper, kashmiri powder, wai wai masala powder, salt to taste), tomato, and spicy sauce to the pan.

COMBINE EVERYTHING WELL.

Step 8: Stir everything together and fry for 3-5 minutes. Then, it’s time to serve the wai wai noodles. Make them even better with this delicious lassi!

  • Finally, add all seasonings and sauces to the pan. Stir everything together and fry for 3-5 minutes. Add salt if needed
    Garnish with your favorite herbs! It's time to serve the wai wai noodles.
    ½ tbsp tomato sauce, ½ tbsp siracha sauce or any spicy sauce, ¼ tsp black pepper, ¼ tsp red chili powder (Kashmiri), salt (as needed)

    This actually turned out to be really good. I found the noodles to be too soft so will soak for 5 minutes instead of 10 next time. I also ended up using more oil when stir frying the noodles. I recommend trying this recipe.
